Hydranautics awarded replacement project at the City of Hollywood
Hydranautics has recently been selected to supply 2,700 of their new low-fouling ESNA1-LF nanofiltration membranes for the City of Hollywood plant on the west coast of Florida.
Oceanside, Calif., Oct. 9, 2003 -- Hydranautics has recently been selected to supply 2,700 of their new low-fouling ESNA1-LF nanofiltration membranes for the City of Hollywood plant on the west coast of Florida.
The membranes will replace the original set of Hydranautics' elements that were installed in 1995 when the 7- train, 18 MGD (68,100 m3/d) plant was built. Treating well water for potable use, the system provides drinking water for over 140,000 citizens in the city of Hollywood. Loading of the new ESNA1-LF membranes will begin the second week of October.
Hydranautics' new energy-saving ESNA1-LF membranes that were selected for replacement provide salt rejection of 90% and controlled hardness removal. The membranes performed very well during pilot testing, and "we expect them to perform as well as the current membranes in place" commented Robert Boyce, the City of Hollywood Plant Manager.
The membranes currently in place have performed excellently over the past eight years, "we just know that there is a life expectancy on membranes so we wanted to replace them before anything went wrong" continued Mr. Boyce. Since 1995 "we have [had] a very good working relationship with Hydranautics...and we look forward to many years of cooperative spirit with them as we have enjoyed."
