CES, Hunt ally to deliver integrated energy management

Hunt Technologies announces an alliance with CES International to bring a new, integrated energy management solution to electric and water utility customers.

Pequot Lakes, Minn., July 16, 2001 — Hunt Technologies announces an alliance with CES International to bring a new, integrated energy management solution to electric and water utility customers.

This alliance will utilize the marketing and product strengths of both companies, integrating CES's outage management system with Hunt's Turtle automated meter reading system. The Minnesota-based Turtle System serves more than 15 million meter end points for rural electric cooperatives, municipals, and investor-owned utilities. Atlanta-based CES provides operations resource management solutions for some of the world's investor-owned utilities.

"This alliance enables us to offer all utilities — cooperatives, municipals, and investor-owned — a complete, integrated package of automated meter reading and outage management software," said Bruce Kraemer, CEO of Hunt Technologies.

The CES outage management system will work with the Turtle automated meter reading device to increase utility efficiencies by automating their manual approach to handling power outages and dispatching repair crews. Ultimately, this allows the utility to quickly restore power to the end customer.

"By combining the data-gathering capabilities of Hunt's Turtle AMR system with CES' Centricity outage management system, we are empowering utilities large and small with the information they need to gain efficiencies in their operations and, as a result, better serve their customers," said Dave Jones, CEO and president of CES International.
