NVID signs joint venture letter of intent for proprietary arsenic removal process
NVID International, Inc. is planning a joint venture with PRD Inc. to co-develop the final stages of a one-step adsorbent technology for arsenic removal.
CLEARWATER, Fla., May 15, 2001 — NVID International, Inc. Tuesday announced that a Joint Venture Letter of Intent has been signed between NVID and PRD Inc. of Florence, Ky. to co-develop the final stages of a one-step adsorbent technology for arsenic removal.
PRD Inc. is the parent company of PRD Tech Inc., the company that will conduct the research needed to establish final arsenic efficacy removal standards for both As (III) and As (V) from drinking water with the proprietary adsorbent beads. Final testing is due to start by June 15, 2001.
The general terms and conditions of the Joint Venture include NVID as a co-partner, with a 50% ownership stake in the technology, marketing rights, profits, and future patent submittals that may arise from the technologically advanced removal process. The final Joint Venture Agreement must be completed within 120 days.
"I am elated to announce NVID's business relationship with Dr. Rakesh Govind, director of PRD Tech Inc.," commented David J. Larson, president of NVID. "Dr. Govind is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, has authored or co-authored over 300 published white paper studies, and is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. This proprietary one-step arsenic removal technology is already moving forward for testing purposes with clients in Mexico and Bangladesh in the point-of-use (POU) markets as we speak."
NVID has had a business relationship with PRD Tech Inc. for over one year. PRD Tech installed an Aqua Bio(r) Technologies IDS 90 silver ionization unit for microbiological control on one of their proprietary "bio-trickling filter systems" for odor control at Sanitation District No. 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant in Northern Kentucky approximately one year ago. The unit has performed as specified, and has accomplished the goal of replacing chlorine in this odor control process. NVID and PRD Tech are also discussing a distribution agreement where PRD Tech would distribute NVID's ionization technologies into this wastewater treatment market niche.
