BexarMet Water District chooses Hansen for utility billing and eCRM
Sacramento, Calif., May 2, 2001 — Hansen Information Technologies announced today that BexarMet Water District in San Antonio, Texas has selected the company's Utility Billing and eCitizen Relationship Management (eCRM) solutions for its consumption billing and call center operations.
BexarMet will be adding the new software to the existing Hansen work order and infrastructure management solutions already in use at the district, creating a single enterprise application for all billing, collections, operations, maintenance, and customer service functions. In addition to software licensing, the contract includes professional services provided by Hansen to ensure a successful implementation project.
"We've been a Hansen customer since 1995 and have been very impressed with the company and the stability of the products that we have been using," said Tom Moreno, BexarMet's General Manager and CEO. "We believe Hansen's billing and customer service products will allow us to serve our existing customers and better prepare us for the future."
BexarMet currently bills an average of 4,000 accounts each day for water service to over 70,000 residential, commercial, and industrial accounts in its service territory. In addition, BexarMet has arrangements with several municipalities and private companies to bill for sewer and garbage service for a small portion of its customers.
The call center operations are currently staffed by seven full-time customer service representatives who handle an average of 500 calls each day on questions related to customer bills, service connection and disconnection, and other items that are referred to the maintenance division for dispatch and inspection. With a fully integrated eCRM component, BexarMet will improve its citizen service while streamlining the district's operations by eliminating manual or redundant processes.
Once installed, the new system will be in use by over 75 employees and replaces a system that was custom developed for BexarMet. The project, which begins immediately, is expected to be complete in less than four months and includes installation, data conversion, interface development, and training. Future considerations include an Internet portal for online payment, bill presentment, service requests, and problem reporting using Hansen's DynamicPORTAL product.
