KMS International LLC, a subsidiary of Koch Membrane Systems Inc., based in Wilmington, MA, acquired Puron AG, an Aachen, Germany, manufacturer of submerged hollow-fiber membrane modules for wastewater treatment.

World Environmental Technologies Inc. (WET), a unit of Ecoloclean Industries Inc., signed a contract with Delta D'Lo LLC, a Broussard, LA, wastewater treatment operator, to provide services in conjunction with Delta's patent-pending membrane technology while utilizing WET's patented electrocoagulation process. The process will be used on non-hazardous wastewater generated from Delta's processing of oily wastewater it receives from industrial sources.

Fair Lawn, NJ's Lonza Inc. raised prices 10-15% effective Dec. 1 on products sold into the water treatment, household, institutional, industrial and personal care markets. Product lines affected include halohydantoins and other hydantoin derivatives, quats, amines, surfactants and other specialty biocides and preservatives.

Ferrate Treatment Technologies LLC won the first Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award in the environment category for developing a wastewater and industrial effluent treatment process without toxic byproducts. Runner-ups included Regenesis for its metals remediation compound that removes toxic metal from groundwater, and Nutech O3 Inc. for a process to remove aquatic nuisance species from ballast water.

URS Corp., of San Francisco, was awarded a third contract by DuPont to continue providing long-term environmental, remediation and construction services. The five-year outsourcing agreement, with a maximum value of $80 million, extends an alliance that began in 1998.
