Organoclay filter media
Washdown water from a tank truckwash operation was flowing at 30 gpm, containing 5 ppm BETX and 10 ppm oil. The client was changing GAC seven times a year to be in compliance with discharge regulations. This amounted to 7,499.1 pounds of carbon per year at a cost of $6,274.2 with labor costs at $7,221.60. The solution was to add an extra filter vessel with 2,000 lb EC-100 organoclay in front of the GAC. At $1.40/lb, organoclay replacement cost after one year service is $2,800.
