• Chosen as one of the top tech start-up companies in the world
SUNNYVALE, CA, Dec. 10, 2007 -- Sylvan Source, a provider of breakthrough ultra-clean water systems, today announced that it has been selected as a winner of the Red Herring 100 Global Award.
"We are honored to be chosen as one of the world's leading technology start-up companies by Red Herring Magazine," said Laura Demmons, chief executive officer for Sylvan Source. "Innovative technologies can play a crucial role in helping address the most significant issues of our time, and Sylvan Source is committed to providing breakthrough products that make a significant difference to quality of life. We are pleased to be recognized for our work."
Red Herring 100 winners and finalists from North America, Europe and Asia of the last three years were eligible for this award. The Red Herring editorial team used a very competitive process to whittle down this pool of 1800 eligible promising companies to the 100 winners of this first-time award. Evaluations were made on both quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration.
"The 100 winners came from 19 countries, proving once again that no single country or region has a monopoly on innovation," said Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring. "They are all exceptional companies with smart and innovative platforms that attest to the importance of technology in today's global economy."
Sylvan Source's M-600 ultra-clean water system integrates degassing, distillation, and demisting technologies into a unique multi-step cleaning process. The M-600 is currently the only home drinking water treatment system to achieve NSF/ANSI Standard 62 certification, and is the first distillation-based, ultra-clean water treatment system to earn certification from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). Sylvan Source has also established a new venture with Trilateral Energy Inc. to commercialize Sylvan Source's proprietary water purification technology for use in large-scale, end-to-end water and energy systems.
The winning companies were announced and celebrated at the Red Herring Global event in Seattle, Washington, on Dec. 3-5.
