CHAPEL HILL, NC, Aug. 4, 2004 -- Apex Mills Corp. has picked Entex Technologies Inc. as the exclusive licensee of its patented BioWeb fixed-film technology for advanced wastewater treatment.

"We are delighted to be working with the experienced and dedicated group of wastewater professionals at Entex. They bring innovative approaches to BioWeb," said Apex Mills president Ed Schlussel.

Entex's president, Wayne Flournoy said "BioWeb broadens our range of IFAS technologies, giving Entex greater flexibility to meet unique requirements of different wastewater treatment applications."

BioWeb was developed by Apex Mills in consultation with leading wastewater treatment professions in the mid-1990s. Since Apex patented the technology in 1998, BioWeb has provided advanced wastewater treatment for 8 facilities around the United States.

The BioWeb technology, employed to treat wastewater sludge, uses Apex's dynamic fabric media to provide sites for biomass growth. Use of the technology in an activated sludge system combines the flexibility of activated sludge systems with the process stability of fixed-film processes. The combination of the two, termed Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludge or IFAS, has received enthusiastic acceptance as a solution for plant upgrades and overloaded clarifiers. For plants needing to convert to nitrification, IFAS systems are dramatically less costly than traditional solutions adding new basins.

Apex Mills Corp. is a specialty warp knit textile manufacturer with expertise in knitted specialty fabrics since 1945 and a diversified customer application base. Its corporate headquarters are in Inwood, NY, and it has mills in Bangor, PA, and Graham, NC.

Entex Technologies Inc. is a full-service provider of IFAS technologies for advanced wastewater treatment. Based in Chapel Hill, NC, it serves the needs of IFAS systems throughout the world through a network of representatives. Look for Entex in Booth No. 4855 at WEFTEC '04 in New Orleans, Oct. 2-6.
