LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- H. David Nahai, community leader, environmental activist and a member of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board since 1997, has been reappointed to a third four-year term by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Nahai was first appointed as a commissioner on the water board by Gov. Pete Wilson in 1997. In 2001, he was reappointed by Gov. Gray Davis. Now, he has been reappointed, for a third time, by Gov. During his tenure as chairman, the regional board was awarded the Environmental Leadership Award by Keep California Beautiful in recognition of its work in tackling urban water run-off pollution. The UCLA Institute of the Environment has recently awarded the water board an "A" grade for this work.

Nahai has served on Gov. Schwarzenegger's Environmental Task Force and is a member of the Environmental Advisory Committee for Assemblyman Paul Koretz.

Nahai is board vice chairman of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission. He also is chairman of the executive committee of the board of the California League of Conservation. He was the recipient in 2003 of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters' Environmental Champion Award.
