MINNEAPOLIS, MN, Dec. 6, 2004 -- The American Filtration & Separations Society has completed several projects to promote its on-going activities using web-based technology.

The major effort has been development and distribution of a monthly AFS Newsletter, which is circulated by email to those individuals on the AFS email list. Information includes local AFS chapter information and expanded educational resources. One of the most popular features has been One Minute FiltrationSM, a concise educational summary of filtration technology of interest to a wide audience. The second development was the upgrading of the AFS website: www.afssociety.org. The site has numerous features making it particularly easy to navigate for locating educational activities and where to find answers to individual questions. One of the more popular items has been "Ask the Expert." Individuals can ask the AFS questions, which will be distributed to its broad list of industry experts, who will provide solutions to industry questions.

After the first of the year, the AFS will sponsor web seminars on a monthly basis. For a nominal fee, novices and journeymen can register and attend 1 hour classes on topics covering a wide range of subjects from the basics of filtration to advanced classes for the industry professionals. The target audience for the web seminars are specifiers, buyers and users of filters and filtration and separation equipment, along with manufactures who supply filters and separation products. Web seminar presenters and lecturers will be individuals recognized in the industry as the leading experts in their respective field. Information on web seminar dates and times will be published monthly in the AFS Newsletter and on the AFS website.
