Rain for Rent 2004 scholarship program
Bakersfield, Calif., April 23, 2004 -- John Lake, president of Rain for Rent, announced that applications are now being accepted for the Charles P. Lake Memorial Scholarship Program.
Eighteen scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to qualified under-graduate students to help them pursue a career in agriculture, business or engineering, with particular emphasis in the fields of irrigation technology, pumps and fluid dynamics.
Students applying for the scholarship must have completed their freshman year and be currently enrolled in their sophomore year at an approved college or university.
Applications may be obtained from and submitted through the following universities: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo School of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Multicultural Agriculture Departments; Cal Poly, Pomona; California State Universities at Bakersfield, Chico and Fresno; U.C. Davis; Louisiana State University and Texas A&M.
In addition, applicants may apply through the Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Monterey, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Tulare or Yolo County Farm Bureaus; the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation; Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association; Idaho Future Farmers of America; and the National FFA Foundation.
The deadline for applications is June 30, 2004. Additional information and applications may be obtained by contacting your participating university, Farm Bureau or association.
