Winners of 2018 Steel Water Pipe Product Awards announced

LAKE ZURICH, IL, JAN 30, 2019 -- Winners were announced last week for the 2018 Steel Water Pipe Product Awards. The announcement took place during the Steel Water Pipe Section meeting in South Carolina. Member companies in three product categories were recognized. (Entries are for products fabricated in the prior year.)

Steel water pipe and pipelines are used in potable water systems throughout the nation and the world. Photos and descriptions of the 2018 entries and award-winners are posted on STI/SPFA's website. Complete details are available on that page.
The winners for the 2018 Pipe Awards are:


Best Steel Water Pipe Fabrication
Mid America Pipe Fabricating & Supply, LLC, Scammon, Kansas Diameter (inches): 108" & 78"

Best Steel Water Pipeline Project
Jifco, Inc., Livermore, California Diameter (inches): 36" - 144"

Best Steel Water Pipe Section Affiliate Product/Project
National Welding Corp., Midvale, Utah Diameter (inches): 180" by 84" rectangle tapering down to 66" round diameter

To determine the winners, the section members assessed each entry by anonymous ballot, based on four criteria:

- Promotional value: Promotes the value of steel fabrication
- Uniqueness of product/project: Shows originality and versatility
- Design and engineering: Excels in technical aspects
- Aesthetics: Has visual appeal
