PARSIPPANY, NJ, March 13, 2006 -- The Hydraulic Institute is pleased to offer an opportunity for our members -- and other interested parties -- to earn recognition as DOE Qualified Pumping System Specialists by participating in the next Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT) Specialist Qualification Workshop.

This three-day workshop will be held April 11-13 at the McMenamins Kennedy School in Portland, OR, and includes a group hands-on pumping system measurement exercise and a written exam at the conclusion of the class. Those passing the exam will receive a certificate and will be listed on the U.S. Department of Energy's BestPractices website for its Industrial Technologies Program.

This training is being offered by Cowlitz Public Utilities Department, Bonneville Power Administration, DOE, Hydraulic Institute, Industrial Efficiency Alliance and Washington State University Energy Program.

PSAT assists engineers and facility operators in conducting preliminary assessments of how efficiently their pumping systems operate and identifying priority targets for energy cost reduction. "Pump Systems Matter" sponsors should be particularly interested in this training and qualifying members of their staff in the use of the PSAT tool.

You should plan to attend this workshop if you:
-- Have comprehensive knowledge of centrifugal pumps and pumping systems*
-- Wish to be recognized as a Qualified Pumping System Specialist by the DOE

[*If you do not have substantial knowledge of centrifugal pumps, or need a refresher, HI recommends completion of our e-Learning course, Centrifugal Pumps: Fundamentals, Design and Application. We are currently offering the CD-ROM version at $299, or $199 for participants in the PSAT Specialist Qualification Workshop. Please respond to this e-mail or contact Allison Kupfrian at (973) 267-9700 x16 for more information. You may also visit our e-Learning portal, www.pumplearning.org, for more details on the course, including a free demonstration.]

HI is also pleased to offer its comprehensive ANSI/HI Pump Standards on CD-ROM (v.2 -- 2005) at the new reduced price of $750. This is the most current authoritative information on pumps and pumping systems! HI also offers two valuable guides, Pump Life Cycle Costs and Variable Speed Pumping, which are great additions to your pump resource library. Order today and receive a FREE HI Engineering Data Book when you place any order over $300. Visit our online e-Store at www.pumps.org.
