The new GridBee™ submersible circulator from SolarBee® improves water quality in ponds, small lakes and other recreational waters.
The new GridBee™ submersible circulator from SolarBee® improves water quality in ponds, small lakes and other recreational waters. By creating a gentle, near-laminar flow across the surface of the water (up to three surface acres), the Grid- Bee circulator reduces blue-green algae and helps restore biodiversity. Ideal for golf courses, municipal fishing ponds, lakeshore areas and any small water body susceptible to pond scum, the electric-powered circulator works from beneath the water surface and does not detract from the natural environment. With a flow rate of 400 gpm, the GridBee unit is located 6 to 36 inches beneath the water surface and is available with an optional 10-inch float ball for visibility. GridBee circulators are equipped with a shoreline converter that reduces standard 110 vAC/5 amp utility power to a safe, low voltage in the water. Units are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and noncorrosive polymer for durability and low maintenance.

Automated drawing program for stormwater systems
CULTEC has launched a new StormGenie™ automated drawing program, allowing customers to generate project-specific Auto- CAD® drawings for the company’s Contactor® and Recharger® retention and detention stormwater systems. Designed to simplify the stormwater system’s design phase, the program works in conjunction with the company’s Stormwater Design Calculator. It generates automatic CAD drawings in three simple steps, providing a convenient tool for engineers, contractors and landscape architects to create preliminary system proposals without spending a lot of time. The program also provides a quick way to draw accurate bed layouts that can be modified into irregular-sized beds.
Well washing system
Anue Environmental Inc. has introduced the new EP-1315, an all-mechanical system that cleans wet wells and provides wastewater conditioning to promote aerobic activity. The system removes up to 98% of fat, oil, and grease (FOG) build-up in wells through agitation and homogenization of the wastewater. During the process, wells are washed down and the system’s action provides significant increases in dissolved oxygen (DO).

The Environmental Protection Agency has declared storm runoff the biggest threat to our water supply. Every year, millions of tons of pollutants – including trash and floatables – enter our rivers and lakes through unfiltered storm sewer systems. But storm sewer filtering is necessary, inexpensive and immediately available. Simple plastic guards from Heka Engineering can catch all large trash and water filters can sift out most of the sediment and much of the fluids.

Construction stormwater treatment
StormKlear® Liqui Floc™ treats suspended sediment in construction stormwater and was formulated specifically to treat sediment that will not settle out by gravity alone. It uses a proprietary chitosan formula to coagulate suspended particles when added to untreated stormwater, neutralizing the negative static electrical charge on soil particles. It can reduce turbidity and phosphorous levels by greater than 90% when used with high-volume efficiency filtration. The product is biodegradable, 100% PAM free, environmentally friendly and approved by many government agencies

Underground wastewater management
The Contactor® 100 is CULTEC’s most popular low-profile chamber for underground wastewater management. It is accepted in most parts of the U.S. for gravel-less septic leach fields as an alternative to concrete galleries and conventional pipe and stone systems. Contactor chambers are typically used for septic installations with depth restrictions or where larger units may not be approved by the local authority. The chamber is manufactured with an open bottom, integrally formed endwalls and perforated sidewalls. It features the company’s patented overlapping rib connection, which allows for easy installation and a stronger connection between chambers. The chambers are lightweight and constructed of high-density polyethylene for greater chemical resistance. Gravel-less installation does not require heavy equipment, and units stockpile easily for a costeffective shipping.
Profile Products offers a new hydraulic mulch additive that significantly improves performance characteristics of Profile’s wood and wood-cellulose blends of hydraulic mulch products. TriFlo™, a proprietary blend of hydrocolloid tackifiers, works synergistically with the Thermally Refined® manufacturing process, which utilizes heat and pressure to more completely break down wood into finer fibers. The result is a higher-quality wood mulch. Finer fibers produce greater product yield, while also creating more surface area for water absorption. TriFlo further enhances these characteristics by absorbing additional moisture and creating a more fluid slurry that shoots farther and more uniformly.

Check valves for stormwater discharge
Tideflex® Check Valves feature an allelastomer design, allowing for free flow of stormwater while preventing backflow from canals, streams, rivers and oceans. The valves discharge with 1” of differential pressure, maximizing pipeline storage capacity. The TF-1 Curved Bill Check Valve is designed to enhancesealing, especially in lowlying areas with little backpressure. The valve is constructed entirely of rubber, making it virtually immune to rust, corrosion and weathering. The curved bill seals without backpressure, allowing for a tighter seal that eliminates gapping issues. The flexible bill also seals around entrapped debris. The headloss of the valve is exceptionally low.
