ASCO Numatics has introduced a mobile application, "ASCO Flow Calculator," that enables customers to quickly calculate flow for a valve or determine the Cv needed to properly size a valve. In addition, the Fluid Guide provides reference information on the types of valves available for most common corrosive and non-corrosive gases and liquids. Additional features include the "Where to Buy Distributor" locator, where customers can locate domestic and international ASCO distributors and search by zip or city/state or by GPS location. The app also features an interactive Conversion tool that quickly converts between metric and imperial values.

NK Technologies has announced the publication of a new comprehensive catalog featuring its extensive portfolio of current, voltage and power measurement products. The 114-page catalog includes performance data, sizes, specifications, and technical references for the company's line of current sensing switches, transducers, transformers, ground fault protection products, and other services. Featured in the new catalog are NK's recently-introduced AT/ATR AC current transducers, designed with split-core housings and the capacity to monitor up to 1,600 amps without disturbing existing wiring. The new transducers are designed to mount on a DIN rail or attach to a control panel.
The International Society of Automation (ISA) has published a new book for control engineers, process engineers and instrumentation technicians with no experience in wireless field devices and wireless control. Titled "Wireless Control Foundation: Continuous and Discrete Control for the Process Industry," the book aims to improve wireless control planning, commissioning and troubleshooting. It is also intended for both process engineers involved in process design and control, as well as instrumentation technicians who troubleshoot process control, measurement and instrumentation. It includes a variety of application examples, workshops to test knowledge retention, and a website that provides solutions to the workshops.

The brochure, "Electrical Solutions for Systems Integrators and Panel Builders," from Thomas & Betts (T&B), outlines the company's product solutions for the manufacturing and maintenance of electrical power control panels in critical systems. It organizes product information in groupings that provide solutions to specific challenges encountered in systems integration and panel building, such as continuous operation, sustainability, safety, project cost reduction, reduction of stock-keeping units, liquid ingress protection, and grounding and bonding. It also indicates which T&B product lines are designed to address each of these issues, as well as T&B services and training.

VFD fact sheet
The Consortium for Energy Efficiency has released a new fact sheet on variable frequency drives (VFDs). Many plant managers overlook the energy saving potential of these devices, but the cost of electricity over a motor's lifetime far outweighs its purchase price. While VFDs have been available for some time, they must be matched correctly with existing motor systems in order to achieve optimal electricity savings. This sheet helps simplify what might otherwise be a complex decision given competing business priorities: If a plant moves water, then it is worth assessing the costs and benefits of installing VFDs.
