RENO, NV, JULY 15, 2016 -- The Nevada Board of Examiners approved a consent decree between the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency, according to a local Fox news affliate. The terms include 59 new positions and a $13 million investment in enhanced stormwater improvements on construction sites and public outreach.

Included in that sum is a $60,000 payment to the EPA, a result of past stormwater management issues, like those at the Chalk Bluff Wastewater Treatment Plant. Untreated runoff from roadways and construction sites can make its way to the Truckee River.

NDOT said they are upgrading wash racks to clean residue off trucks and vehicles, adding more street sweepers, and new vactor trucks to clean storm drains as part of the improvements.
