Grease to blame for Hawaii wastewater spill
HONOLULU, HAWAII, Jan. 7, 2013 -- The state Department of Health announced Monday that about 3,500 gallons of wastewater entered Waikele Stream, which empties into West Loch at Pearl Harbor.
Health officials say residential grease caused a manhole to overflow on Awamoi Street in Waipahu.
Warning signs have been posted and water samples will be taken. The public is advised to stay out of Waikele Stream.
