HOUSTON, TX, Feb. 24, 2010 -- Headworks Bio Inc. is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with STX Europe in Turku, Finland, for the completion and commissioning of a wastewater treatment system for the Allure of the Seas cruise ship. The Allure of the Seas will be delivered to its owner, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, at the end of this year. Using innovative moving bed bioreactor ("MBBR") and Return Activated Sludge technologies, the system is another step forward in the trend towards advanced onboard wastewater treatment and water reuse.

Allure of the Seas is the sister ship to the Oasis of the Seas, also built by STX Europe for Royal Caribbean International. It will have capacity for 5,400 guests onboard in 2,700 staterooms with a crew contingent of 2,160 members. All wastewater, including: black, accommodation grey, galley grey , food waste, and laundry grey water generated onboard will be treated to a higher quality than the Alaska State Discharge Standards, currently the most stringent in the world. The maiden voyage of this technologically advanced ship is scheduled for late October of 2010 and all systems will be functional and ready for passengers prior to launch. The inaugural passenger cruise is set for December 2010 out of its home port in Ft. Lauderdale.

Sami Hautala, Vice President of STX Europe, enthusiastically explained why they chose Headworks Bio again: "After our successful collaboration on the Oasis of the Seas, we look forward to working with Headworks Bio on the Allure of the Seas project. What we expect from our suppliers is not only high-quality, reliable equipment, but also total commitment and professionalism in the handling and execution of the projects. The Headworks Bio team has demonstrated that they excel in all those areas."

Headworks Bio's recent acquisition of various assets of Hydroxyl Systems Inc. and its recruitment of former members of the Hydroxyl engineering team has increased the company's capacity and expertise, strengthening it as a leading solutions provider in the fast growing MBBR and IFAS wastewater treatment systems market. MBBR technology is a biological wastewater treatment process which is more efficient than conventional or membrane wastewater treatment systems. It is not only more cost efficient, but requires less energy and space, both paramount considerations in the extremely limited confines of ships. Hydroxyl was one of the first of two companies to develop MBBR technology for use in municipalities and industrial applications and became the world leader in marine wastewater treatment and other unique industrial applications as well as a serious contender in the municipal market.

Hydroxyl's ActiveCell™ biofilm carriers have many years of proven success in the field. Using the ActiveCell and other biofilm carriers, Headworks Bio provides innovative MBBR and IFAS solutions for compact modular systems and designs which can significantly increase the flow capacity and efficiency of new and existing plants within their original footprint.

"We take this second order from STX as a sign of confidence in our technology and our team and we look forward to successfully continuing to build a long term relationship with STX"" stated Headworks Bio's president, Michele LaNoue. "We are proud to be part of this important project, which demonstrates the superiority of Headworks Bio and its advanced wastewater treatment systems when it comes to applications where space is limited, operations have to be simple and reliability is absolutely critical. If something stops working on the ship's wastewater plant while out to sea, you can't simply call a plumber!"
