BURLINGTON, ON, July 2, 2014 -- On Friday, June 25, Anaergia Inc. announced that it has reorganized its senior management. The company's board of directors has approved the following management changes:
- Dr. Andrew Benedek, Anaergia founder and former chairman and chief technology officer, has been appointed chairman and CEO of the company. Benedek had previously founded ZENON Environmental, a global membrane company, and served as its CEO until General Electric acquired the company in 2006.
- Steve Watzeck, former CEO of Anaergia, has been appointed chief commercial officer of membrane-technology-based solutions. He will also become chairman of the board for Anaergia's membrane technology company, Fibracast, and thereby tie the sales network of the company to the products of Fibracast. Watzeck will continue to serve on Anaergia's board of directors.
- Arun Sharma, former president of Anaergia Services, the company's main U.S. subsidiary, has been appointed president of the Americas, responsible for all of Anaergia's business units in the country other than its Fibracast subsidiary.
These changes are a result of the maturing of the Anaergia's activities. Benedek's combination of technical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills are now best used to support regional leaders such as Sharma. Further, the appointment of Watzeck will be helpful to Fibracast at this critical time in this subsidiary's growth.
Accordingly, all Europe, Middle East and Africa operations are now under the leadership of Luca Belli, who had previously managed Anaergia's Italian operations. The company's rapidly-growing Asian business continues to be managed by Tim Huang and his team.
In addition, three other individuals round out Anaergia's team of senior executives. Krishnan Iyer, who recently joined the company as CFO, had previously been at Enwave Energy Corporation, a Canadian provider of innovative, sustainable energy services. Hani Kaissi, SVP, Corporate Development and Operations, has been with the Anaergia since its North American inception. Likewise, Iyer and Mr. Kaissi ensure that the company's finances, operations and investments are properly managed, and Juan Josse, chief engineer, also oversees Anaergia's waste conversion technologies.
