New software designed to take control of energy costs
Rockwell Automation has introduced Rockwell Software RSEnergy Version 2.0 energy monitoring softwarer to its Power and Energy Management Solutions (PEMS) offering.
June 8, 2001—Rockwell Automation has introduced Rockwell Software RSEnergy(tm) Version 2.0 energy monitoring softwarer to its Power and Energy Management Solutions (PEMS) offering.
RSEnergy is a Web server-based software program that monitors energy use throughout a networked enterprise, providing real-time and historical data on energy usage.
For proactive energy demand management, the program allows users to manage energy use effectively and cut costs by creating custom rate plans using a rate plan wizard tool. RSEnergy helps control energy costs while optimizing productivity by providing information that is used to determine load factor, identify peak demand periods, correlate consumption with facility activities and evaluate savings from power aggregation.
A useful tool for increasing energy usage awareness, RSEnergy provides information to manage energy consumption and negotiate lower energy rates through cost allocation and load profiling. The program assits manufacturers in creating incentives to save energy and making managers responsible for energy-wasting behaviors. By providing historical trends reports and charts from individual groups of power meters, the program gives companies the data necessary for negotiating lower energy rates. To assist in verifying energy rates, data is mapped into "cost centers" which can be linked one-to-one with metered points or a combination of metered points. Users can compare and contrast alternative utility rates and do "what-if" scenarios for other rate offers.
RSEnergy can warn of impending equipment degradation and schedule maintenance based on actual usage, reducing maintenance costs. With multi-level password protection, the program allows users to access only the information they need.
