Dr. Breysse of CDC to Keynote AWWA Virtual Summit: Lead & Water Quality

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) announced Dr. Patrick Breysse from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will keynote its AWWA Virtual Summit: Lead & Water Quality.

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) announced Dr. Patrick Breysse from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will keynote its AWWA Virtual Summit: Lead & Water Quality, which will be held Apr. 7-8.

Member registration is $240 and non-member registration is $340.

Dr. Patrick Breysse, PhD, CIH, will keynote the two-day virtual summit with a presentation as part of the opening general session at 8:30 a.m. MT on Apr. 7. As the director of National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, Dr. Breysse leads the investigation of the relationship between environmental factors and health for the CDC.

The revised Lead and Copper Rule requires prompt, continued action from the water sector to reduce lead exposure through drinking water, according to the AWWA press release. The AWWA Virtual Summit aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on lead reduction actions and impacts through presentations of technical content and total water solutions.

The two-day event will feature a town hall presentation featuring:

  • Jennifer Liggett, Drinking Water Technologist, Jacobs;
  • Quirien Muylwyk, MASc., P.Eng., Director Water Quality and VP, AECOM;
  • Elise Deshommes, Engineering Project Manager, Polytechnique Montréal;
  • And Rebecca Slabaugh, Associate Vice President, Arcadis

  • Communication/Utility Guidance;
  • Corrosion Control Studies;
  • Lead Service Lines;
  • And Management/Regulatory
