Editor's Note: Do you know a water treatment dealer who deserves recognition for leadership in the industry, innovative ideas or successful business practices? Nominate them to be featured as a WQP Dealer of the Month here. Self-nominations are accepted.

The water industry is bursting at the seams with stories of history and tradition but also passion and innovation. While WQP often covers the technology, trends and business practices driving our industry forward, this issue provides a rare opportunity to reflect on the people behind the business–both past, present and future. It is an issue near and dear to me, so it is with a warm heart that I invite you to read the stories outlined in the following pages.

Throughout 2019, members of the water industry submitted nominations for WQP’s award programs. The WQP editorial team then selected Frank Brigano, vice president and senior research fellow for Marmon Water, as this year’s Industry Icon. My interviews with Brigano and his colleagues showed me his tireless dedication to push the industry’s best interests forward, making him truly worthy of “Icon status.” People like Brigano, who work with such passion and devotion to constant improvement, innovation and mentorship, are the reason this industry is such a great place to start a career.

With such a rich industry history to draw on, it is important to take time to celebrate tradition, while looking to the future. This year’s class of Young Professionals highlights seven individuals, marking our largest class yet and perhaps one of our most ambitious. Their stories remind me the importance of investing in your career and your community, much like our Industry Icon’s does.

Finally, as we take time to celebrate the industry’s history, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge WQP’s history as a partner in that. This year marks WQP’s 25th anniversary as a leading industry publication and resource. The WQP editorial team takes pride in our work to keep the water industry up-to-date and informed. Thank you to all of our readers for standing with us, and here’s to 25 more years!

If you are interested in nominating a peer or yourself for our 2021 Young Professionals and Industry Icon programs, I encourage you to head to bit.ly/wqp-nominations-2021.
