SCS Global Services joins The Water Council as First Water Champion member

The Water Council, a nonprofit membership organization driving freshwater innovation and advancing water stewardship, announced its new Water Champion membership program with SCS Global Services (SCS) as its first member.

Traditionally, members of The Water Council come from the water technology sector. The Water Champion program was created for companies outside the sector that want to show their support for The Water Council’s mission to solve global water challenges through water innovation and stewardship.

Water Champions receive a logo for their website, recognition on The Water Council’s website, admission to the annual Water Leaders Summit and access to quarterly updates focused on trends in water innovation, stewardship and the evolving landscape of water in ESG (environmental, social and governance) investing.

“The membership couldn’t come at a better time, as investors, customers, employees and other key stakeholders are increasingly demanding ESG results from public and private companies,” said Dean Amhaus, The Water Council president and CEO. “By becoming a Water Champion, a company demonstrates a commitment to water innovation and stewardship. The membership also offers the opportunity to take an important first step in starting a water stewardship performance program to address water risks and translate credible actions into transparent external reporting.”

Fittingly, the first Water Champion member is SCS Global Services, an international leader in third-party certification, validation and verification for environmental, sustainability, and food safety and quality performance claims.

“SCS is extremely proud to be a founding Water Champion,” said Rae Mindock, SCS Global Services’ Manager for Responsible Water Practices. “Our work with The Water Council over the last several years has led to pioneering many aspects of water stewardship together, and we are excited to see our partnership grow with this new membership. The membership will allow us to collaborate with other innovators on how to propel more corporations into becoming better water stewards and ensuring responsible water practices. Corporate sustainability is one of the most impactful means to preserve our natural resources and ensure a more circular economy.”

SCS has supported The Water Council on water stewardship trainings, webinars and event sponsorships, as well as helping to develop the North America marketplace for site-level water stewardship.

“As a distinguished global leader when it comes to environmental sustainability, SCS has been a longtime sponsor of our Water Leaders Summit,” Amhaus said. “We look forward to furthering our relationship with SCS and working with other companies who share our commitment to driving innovation in freshwater technology and advancing water stewardship with an eye to addressing global water issues.”
