Auf Wiedersehen!
Much has changed since I began reporting on the water industry more than three years ago. We have certainly faced many challenges, but I couldn’t be more proud to serve this audience, full of people who have responded to difficult circumstances with innovation, courage and a sense of adventure.
That said, it is time for me to embark on an adventure of my own. My husband was recently offered a job in Germany, and we have decided to relocate our family there for the near future. After considering our options, we decided this is an opportunity we would regret passing up! Therefore, I must say goodbye to our readers.
I am confident in passing leadership of Water Quality Products to Associate Editor Kate Cline, who has been a valuable member of the editorial team for almost a year, and will continue to lead the charge in providing you with relevant, timely industry information. Please welcome Kate to the industry and say hello when you see her at upcoming events.
I have gotten to know many of you and have even met many of you through industry events. Each one of you has helped to greatly increase my knowledge of the water treatment market. I will sincerely miss these relationships, whether forged on the phone or on the tradeshow floor, and I wish you all the best, both professionally and personally, in the future!
Coming Full Circle
It would seem that the water treatment industry is in my blood—both of my parents are civil engineers who combined have worked for decades in the industry. But like many an 18-year-old, I decided I had to do my own thing and got as far from science as I could, choosing to major in journalism in college. But blood is thicker than water, or so they say, and it seems to have led me right back to water treatment—and, unlike my teenaged self, I could not be more thrilled.
I have been working behind the scenes here at Water Quality Products for nearly a year, and I am delighted to step into this new role at such an exciting time for the water treatment industry. I have had the chance to speak with some of you over the past months, and have come to appreciate the robust, can’t-get-us-down attitude that you all share. Despite the tough economic times, the water treatment industry soldiers on with new innovations and a steady dedication to serving its customers. Combine that with the public’s increasing awareness of water quality issues and demand for treatment solutions, and it is clear that the industry has an opportunity to shine.
I look forward to working with many of you and meeting some of you at upcoming industry events. In the meantime, feel free to drop me a line and introduce yourself. And please join me in wishing Rebecca the best as she embarks on this new and exciting time in her life. She will certainly be missed by all of us here at WQP.
