The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), a testing and certification organization in the water industry, announced its first client in China to be certified to NSF Guideline 533 for its chemical polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) products.
Shandong Gaoxin Chemical, a high-tech enterprise engaged in the production and operation of new chlorinated polymer materials, earned the certification for its CPVC 5367F and CPVC 6067P products. The company is NSF’s first client in China to receive this certification, which demonstrates that their CPVC products have been evaluated for health effects.
Founded in 2003, Shandong Gaoxin Chemical’s main products include CPVC, high chlorinated polyethylene resin (HCPE), and chlorinated polyethylene resin (CPE), with an output of 80,000 tons/year.
“We are proud to be the first company to earn this certification in China. NSF provided efficient and reliable support to us as we completed the NSF Guideline 533 certification process,” said Harry Wang, Sales Director of Gaoxin Chemical. “Since the NSF mark is highly valued globally, it adds credibility to our products and helps us be more competitive in the global market.”
NSF Guideline 533 is a new guideline that NSF launched in January 2023. The guideline covers ingredients such as resins, stabilizers, carbon black, lubricants, solvents, and colorants used in CPVC, PE, Nylon, and other materials. It expands NSF’s certification offerings to include ingredients used in drinking water products. Certified ingredient manufacturers can use the dedicated NSF mark to demonstrate that their product meets the NSF Guideline 533 requirements as reviewed by a third party.
“We launched NSF Guideline 533 this year and are proud to certify the first company, Shandong Gaoxin Chemical in China,“ said Sun Jialei, Senior Manager of Water China at NSF. “We offer a simple process that saves ingredient manufacturers time and cost. With NSF Guideline 533, ingredient manufacturers have the opportunity to promote their ingredients to drinking water product manufacturers around the world on NSF’s official website. For product manufacturers, using NSF-listed ingredients can help them go to market quickly. We hope that other ingredient suppliers will follow suit in manufacturing safer ingredients.”
