Basin mixing, flushing
A new mixing and flushing unit for cleaning stormwater retention basins has been introduced by ITT Flygt. Designated as the Flygt Hydroejector, the unit acts as a mixer when water levels are high, keeping solids in suspension so they can be pumped away. When basin water levels are low, the unit automatically becomes a flushing device, with water discharged through the ejector pipe in a powerful jet, which removes organic matter from the basin floor and walls.

Stormwater storage
For underground storage of stormwater runoff, NSW Kompakt® modules are made from three dimensionally open tubes that permit water to flow in any direction. The extruded tubes are manufactured of either polypropylene or polyethylene and are either thermal welded or heat flanged to form the modules. The heat flanged tubes allow a flat surface to support geotextile soil retention fabric.

Flow control device
Many emergency clarifier tanks are plagued with the same problem — extreme variability of the inflow causing removal efficiency problems. This obstacle can limit the use of clarifier tanks in combined sewer overflow (CSO) and sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) applications. To address this problem, USFilter offers the Hydrovex® Clari, a flow control device installed on a clarifier tank's outlet weir to regulate flow through the tank. Once the clarifier tank reaches its maximum outflow, the device maintains a constant flow automatically, under any inflow condition. If the clarifier tank is facing an inflow higher than the outflow, the large tank volume simply accumulates the extra water. As the event retreats, the device will pass the extra water until the tank's water level recesses to the weir elevation.

Stormwater treatment
BaySaver® provides products and services for stormwater treatment. Its systems are customizable to project site conditions. Driven by gravity, stormwater flow enters a primary manhole for initial separation. The flow is then treated a second time in an off-line storage manhole, where oils, fine suspended solids, and floatables are collected.

Manhole seals
Cretex Chimney Seals seal the frame chimney area of both existing and newly constructed manholes. They reduce surcharging/bypassing and lower pumping and treatment costs in a sanitary sewer system. In storm sewer systems, the seals provide protection from infiltration of surrounding soil. This infiltration frequently undermines pavements. The seals are a product of Cretex Specialty Products, affiliated with Cretex Companies, Inc.
