Immersible motor

Cornell Pumps "FCS" is an immersible motor. A cutting edge concept developed to replace the outdated "Dry-Pit Submersibles," its basic design is a premium efficiency, inverter duty, P-base or C-face, TEFC motor. This allows for frame mounting as well as close coupled. A "Navy"-style conduit box prevents water leakage up to 30 ft. of submergence for a two-week period. Tandem lip seals, a dished end bell and expeller are used to seal the bottom portion of the motors in the event of a flood. Class F or class H insulation protects against excessive internal heat. The top of the motor is sealed with mating fittings using O-rings and vulcanizing compound to prevent leakage. The motor shaft does not protrude through the top plate to drive the fan. A blower motor of Wash-Thru design drives the external fan that cools the motor in a dry state. Float switches turn the blower on and off as flood waters rise and recede.

High head pumps

ABS introduced its new series of HiLift™ pumps for applications where the head is high but the flow is relatively low. This can arise if the static lift is high or where the pipeline is very long, leading to high friction losses— or a combination of these circumstances. Applications for the new submersible pumps include screened or unscreened sewage, dewatering in underground areas, wash down systems, water abstraction from lakes or rivers, quarries and leachate from landfill sites. The pumps especially are suitable for stormwater where high heads are needed. The pumps are available for pumping up to 246 ft. in 50 Hz or 280 ft. in 60 Hz. The range goes from 3.5 kW to 23 kW and is offered in both standard and explosion-proof versions. The HiLift™ range comprises DN 65, DN 80 and DN 100 versions with solids passage of 13/4in. or 2in.. The pump's patented ContraBlock™ system includes an open single or multiblade impeller that revolves on a spiraled groove, and ensures that solids or fibers are processed through the pump without blockage.
