Hydrostatic test pump

The handle-operated HTP300 from Reed Manufacturing allows users to pressure test water lines. Pump operation requires the user first to fill the system that needs to be tested. Next, the user raises the system pressure by actuating the pump handle. Finally, the user closes the pump's ball valve at the desired pressure. The user determines leakage based on dropping pressure as indicated by the pump's pressure gauge. The pump has a relief valve that reduces the likelihood of over-pressuring the system.

Septage receiving system

JWC Environmental offers the Septage Receiving System equipped with the company's Muffin MonsterRegistered. The system grinds all septage coming into a plant before washing, compacting and dewatering the inorganic material for disposal. Dual-shafted grinding of the waste increases the wash surface to produce a cleaner, dryer end-result. An optional metering and billing control system is available for monitoring individual discharge from septage trucks and providing billing information to haulers and plants. The system is based on a card reader or digital keypad for security, in combination with a flow meter and valve.

Directional drilling

The new Ditch WitchRegistered JT7020 Mach 1 horizontal directional drilling system offers increased power and automated features that make it more efficient and productive. Powered by a 261 hp turbocharged diesel engine, the rig develops 70,000 pounds of pullback and 10,000 foot pounds of spindle torque. Maximum spindle speed is 210 rpm. Operation of a mud motor is facilitated by a new spindle brake feature, enhanced drilling fluid flow and cruise control which maintains a preset thrust/pullback and rotation speed settings. Other features include four-point anchoring, improved pipeloading, heavy-duty drill pipe vise wrenches and improved automatic pipe lubrication.

Valve cover

The new VC212 Self Centering Valve Cover from 3 Dimensional Contracting eliminates the challenge of properly aligning a riser pipe and cuts the cost of installation and repair. The cover's base has specially designed rubber fingers that automatically center it over the valve. Bubble levels on the lid also help to confirm the cover is in the proper position before beginning backfill. The removable lid can be placed over the cover enabling the backfill process to occur over the valve before installing the riser pipe. This change in process dramatically increased the stability of the riser pipe and prevents it from moving during the rest of the backfill activity. The increased area around the bonnet prevents debris from impeding the valve's operating nut so access is assured.

Ethernet modem

Data-Linc Group's SRM6200E is a license-free, wireless Ethernet radio modem. With Ethernet emerging as a viable automation interface, the modem adds flexibility to system design where cable installation is difficult or cost prohibitive. It uses the company's Smart Spectrumtrademark frequency hopping technology in the 902-928 MHz frequency band. The modem uses MAC layer bridging for true protocol transparency and fully supports TCP/IP-based protocols up to 15 miles away, with line-of-sight. It provides remote PLC programming and diagnostics with an RF data rate of 188Kbps and can function as a remote/repeater to extend range or work around obstructions. It is available in stand-alone or PLC rack mount versions.

Chlorine meter

Palintest's Chlorometer Duo is a new hand-held chlorine meter with an exceptionally broad measurement range. This single instrument lets water engineers and contractors measure the high chlorine levels used for pipework sterilization as well as the low residual disinfectant levels in treated drinking water. The meter is calibrated to monitor residual chlorine using the DPD standard method, revealing both free and total chlorine in the 0-5 ppm range. The higher range test uses the iodine release technique for total chlorine analysis across the 0-200 ppm range. Low resolution is 0.01 ppm and high range is 1 ppm. Each test takes about one minute. A reagent tablet is added to a 10 ml sample, the test tube is inserted in the meter and a button is pressed. Results are displayed on a LCD screen.
