Watertight HDPE pipe
Hancor has introduced a revolutionary development in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, it's new Blue Seal™, a multicomposite joining system unlike any other. Made of a unique combination of three different materials, the system is watertight and third party certified to meet 10.8 psi water and vacuum testing requirements. It consists of an integral bell and spigot system that uses expanding structural polyurethane foam technology for gasket support. The coupling system maintains bell dimension after pressurization providing uniform tolerances to ensure consistent, long-lasting pipe performance.

AWWA approved coatings
Atofina Chemicals has announced that the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Board of Directors has approved a new standard for the use of polyamide (nylon 11) coatings, which includes the company's Rilsan® Fine Powder coatings. This new standard instructs users on all aspects of proper use of polyamide (nylon 11) coatings in the water industry, including materials, equipment, workmanship, primers, application methods, and field procedures. Rilsan Fine Powder coatings are thermoplastic powder coatings based on nylon 11, which derives from a renewable vegetable source (the castor bean).

Network communications box
In-Situ has launched the Quad-Box, a network communications box for use with the miniTROLL line of intelligent probes. The device adds a number of degrees of functionality to a network setup, while actually decreasing the cost in many cases. It allows up to four miniTROLL 0.72-in. diameter smart probes to be connected to one central node in a network chain of as many as 32 connections. This drives down the cost of networking by eliminating the need for separate T-boxes on each probe, as well as eliminating the ancillary networking cable.

Ammonia/nitrate/phosphate analyzers
Stamolys analyzers from Endress + Hauser measure ammonia, nitrate and phosphate. The analyzers work with very small volume by using a unique sample preparation method. This results in less waste disposal and reduces reagent consumption. The automatic cleaning, automatic calibration and self-diagnosis make the systems easy to use and maintain. For wastewater applications, the unit can monitor effluents to ensure compliance with discharge limits. The analyzers accurately control nitrification, denitrification and the removal of phosphorus. For drinking water applications, the analyzer monitors and controls nitrate and phosphate in the raw water and plant outlet.
