Badger Meter Inc. has released a new line of fire service meters, assemblies and check valves in sizes ranging from 4 to 10 inches for the meters and assemblies, and from 3 to 8 inch for the valves.
The Badger Fire Service Meters (FSM) and Fire Service Assemblies (FSA) are listed with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and approved by Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FM) for use in fire service metering applications. These products also meet AWWA Standard C703 for all fire flow applications.
Fire service meters are used on industrial, multi-residential and commercial applications where a fire line is either the primary or secondary source of water supply. The fire service meters were developed to protect water utilities from unauthorized use of the fire service lines.
The new Badger FSMs are designed for measuring both domestic and fire service usage where UL or FM requirements must be met. The FSM consists of a mainline Class II turbine meter and a fire service strainer. This meter is designed for both regular potable service and fire service.
The new Badger FSAs are designed for applications that use the fire service main also to supply water for secondary services such as drinking fountains and general purpose plumbing fixtures. The FSA consists of a mainline Class II turbine meter, a fire service strainer, a 2-in. bypass meter for measuring low flow rates and a check valve for diverting flow other than the fire demand through the bypass meter.
All of Badgers Fire Service Meters are designed for connectivity to Badgers MRT products including ACCESSplus(r) Premier(tm), Dialog(r), Trace(r) and Itron ERTs(r). The interface is through the TR-04-2 Reed Switch Transmitter and DTI Digital Transmitter Interface. The DTI emulates the RTR(r) output for connecting to meter reading technologies.
