Monitoring, control system

Xylem's YSI-branded IQ SensorNet (IQSN) is a modular continuous monitoring and control system that enables a wastewater treatment plant to monitor every aspect of its process in real time -- from pre-sedimentation to the biological tanks to the effluent. The IQSN integrates a sensor network -- capable of accepting additional sensors at any time -- and is ideal for a variety of installation needs. The system enables better network visibility and management, early detection of network failures, cost savings, and improved compliance with regulatory targets.

CAS DataLoggers and Isodaq offer the Tadpole D GSM/GPRS Data Logger, a rugged IP65 telemetry device designed for standalone water and environmental monitoring in remote sites and in hostile environmental conditions. These battery-operated dataloggers connect to a wide range of single-input digital, analog and multi-parameter SDI-12 sensors. The Tadpole's design enables users to fit the device into tipping-bucket rain gauges or slots inside a 50-mm-diameter piezometer tube. By transmitting data at user-set intervals or on alarm activation via GPRS to a telemetry server, the loggers automatically deliver data directly to the desktop.

Variable speed controller

PRIMEX's versatile Level View™ controller regulates two or three constant or variable speed pumps for both pump-up (water) and pump-down (wastewater) applications. A color touch screen HMI can be easily read in direct sunlight and offers the ability to provide on/off level control, speed control, pump alternation, flow monitoring, data logging, alarm logging, and historical trending. An SD card provides for data storage and download. Connectivity options provide flexibility for SCADA/BAC integration as well as a plug-and-play interface to the company's Pump Watch™ web-based monitoring system.

New technology meters

Otek Corporation's New Technology Meters (NTM) series has introduced an exclusive input failure alert and alarm system. The series offers an operator-friendly digital display and an automatic tricolor bar-graph with color set point. There are no moving parts in the design, making it durable and reliable. A featured model in the series is the NTM-3 -- the ANSI 4" switchboard replacement meter. The NTM-3 is available in plastic or metal housing and meets military or nuclear specifications. Users can build up to three channels to house in one meter.

pH/ORP transmitters

Sensorex's TX2000 Intelligent pH/ORP Series Transmitters deliver critical analytical information from process sensors to water treatment plant operators. Designed for use with the company's flat surface technology sensors, the user-friendly TX2000 integrates easily with plant control systems. Influent process monitoring can alert operators to contaminated raw sewage entering the plant, allowing it to be diverted and further treated to avoid process upsets. In plants using biological treatments, ORP measurement is frequently used for process control. Featured with alarm/control relays and current outputs (4-20 mA), the transmitter interfaces with plant SCADA or DCS control systems.

Control, SCADA technology

Emerson's Ovation™ control and SCADA technology provides municipalities access to real-time data, translating into better management of distributed systems and remote sites, streamlined environmental reporting, reduced environmental hazards, improved process reliability, and reduced operations and maintenance costs. Integrated, wide-area monitoring and control of all operations from a single, centralized location enables operators to more quickly detect and isolate system leaks and react rapidly to changing conditions.
