Veolia signs 20-year outsourcing contract in China

Veolia Environnement signed a 20-year contract to operate the Lugouqiao wastewater treatment plant, located east of Beijing. The company's first outsourcing service contract is worth g50 million in total revenue.

Beijing plans to build six wastewater treatment plants in preparation for the 2008 Olympics. The first plant will cost g40 million, and will be financed mainly through a World Bank loan to the Beijing municipality.

In addition, Veolia Water modernised customer service and management methods in the first year of its 50-year public-private partnership in Pudong, a business district in Shanghai.
