Biwater signs contract for Lodz wastewater project

The UK company Biwater Treatment signed a construction, installation and refurbishment contract to extend a wastewater treatment plant in Lodz, Poland.

The two-year project will include the extension of three biological treatment lines, sludge thickeners and modernisation of a screen house. The plant serves a population of 750,000 and will prevent the discharge of 215 tonnes per day of sludge, sand and screenings into the river Ner. The plant will treat sewage from Lodz, Pabianice and Konstantynow to comply with Polish and European standards.

The city of Lodz is the second largest city in Poland and is situated in the centre of the country. The project is worth €12 million and was awarded to a joint venture between Biwater Treatment and Warbud SA of Poland.
