BOSTON, March 4, 2016 – The Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility was recently honored with a “2015 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Excellence Award” by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s New England regional office. The Brewer Facility, led by Superintendent Ken Locke, was recognized for exceptional work in operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment plant.
The EPA Regional Wastewater Awards Program recognizes personnel in the wastewater field who have provided invaluable public service managing and operating wastewater treatment facilities throughout New England. The Brewer plant was one of five facilities in New England acknowledged for exemplary performance during 2015. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was instrumental in nominating the Brewer Facility.
“The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are essential to keeping our environment healthy by protecting water quality. I am proud to give them the credit they deserve,” said Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office.
The Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility was acknowledged for its outstanding work at the annual New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston.
