WA military installment to receive 'Class A' wastewater treatment plant

Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a WA military installment, will soon receive a new wastewater treatment plant to support its population.


Jan. 17, 2014 -- Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), an American military installation home to I Corps and 62d Airlift Wing located 9.1 miles south-southwest of Tacoma, Wash., will soon receive a new wastewater treatment plant to support its population.

A firm-fixed price contract was recently awarded to CDM Constructors Inc., to design and build the 'Class A' treatment utility at the base complete with nutrient removal and redundant process equipment.

The contract totals $77,476,628 -- the amount of Fiscal 2013 military construction funds obligated at the time of the award. Bids were also solicited via the Internet with 12 received.

The estimated completion date of the project is March 1, 2016. Work will be performed at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The Army Corps of Engineers of Seattle, Wash., is the contracting activity (W912DW-14-C-0002).
