• Public-private partnership recognized for outstanding contribution to water pollution control through excellence in wastewater treatment operations
FORT WASHINGTON, PA, Sept. 1, 2009 -- The City of Clinton, Miss., Southside wastewater treatment plant has been awarded the 2008 Class 4 Plant of the Year Award from the Mississippi Water Environment Association. The City's 3.5 million-gallons-per-day treatment plant serves 18,000 residents and is operated and maintained by Severn Trent Services under a public-private partnership that began in 1994.
The Southside plant was recognized for its state-of-the-art processes, safety record, preventive equipment maintenance and aesthetics. A plaque and commemorative flag were presented to the City of Clinton by Rusty Lyons, the award committee chairman from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
