OVERLAND PARK, KS, Sept. 24, 2009 -- James H. Clark, P.E., a vice president of Black & Veatch, has been selected by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) as the 2009 recipient of the organization's Engelbrecht International Achievement Award. The award recognizes sustained and significant contributions to the furtherance and improvement of WEF activities in the international field. It will be presented at the WEF Awards and Presidential Celebration Reception during WEFTEC®.09, WEF's 82nd annual technical exhibition and conference, on October 13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Clark has demonstrated his commitment to international advancement of water and wastewater solutions for much of his 30-year career: as a college professor; as a project manager and process specialist, and more recently as a Wastewater Practice Leader for Western North America and project director in Black & Veatch's global water business; and through his long involvement with WEF. Among his professional contributions are board membership, including presidency, of WEF and significant participation in the Stockholm International Water Institute including membership on the Founders' Council. He recently completed a six-year term on the international Nominating Committee for the Stockholm Water Prize, considered to be the Nobel Prize for the water profession, and he currently serves on the Board of Water for People, a charitable organization that supports the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education programs in developing countries.
