CHAPEL HILL, NC, July 22, 2009 -- Thanks to its newly patented Webitat system, Entex Technologies has solved a long-standing problem associated with fixed media systems. Patent 7,445,715 was awarded to Entex Technologies Inc. on November 4, 2008.
The patented Webitat system specifically addresses the problem with infestations of redworms which feed on the attached growth media biofilm whose function is to clean the wastewater, resulting in reduced system effectiveness.
"Not only does the Webitat system solve the redworm problem, it also shears the biomass creating a higher rate system. These thinner biofilms have shown substantial improvement in the performance of IFAS systems," said patent developer Richard Pehrson.
"Webitat represents the third generation of dynamic fixed media systems, providing cost-effective upgrades to wastewater treatment systems," he said.
The Webitat system is operating successfully at The Colony, a residential community in Texas, and at other wastewater treatment facilities across the country.
Webitat was invented by Pehrson, Wayne Flournoy and Sarah Hubbell.
