VANCOUVER, BC, Canada, July 10, 2009 -- Corix announces that they have been awarded the contract for the design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant for Dawson City, Yukon.

Corix Water Systems will supply a state-of-the-art, aerobic activated sludge process called VERTREAT™. This technology provides a compact, robust and low maintenance wastewater solution. As the technology selected by Corix is up to 50% more energy efficient than a conventional wastewater plant and uses a smaller building than traditional solutions, long term operating costs for the City will be much lower and the physical environmental footprint of the plant will be significantly reduced.

The Dawson City plant serves a winter population of approximately 1,500 residents and a summer population of approximately 4,000 residents. The project is valued at $24.8 million.

"Corix Water Systems is very pleased to join the Dawson Wastewater project team. With over 65 years of experience, Corix understands the importance of sustainable infrastructure vital to the growth of communities of all sizes. We look forward to working with the City of Dawson and the Yukon Government as well as our local business partners," said Jack Touhey, Vice President, Corix Water Systems.

"We are very pleased to announce this significant project milestone," Highways and Public Works Minister Archie Lang said. "The project will create local job opportunities and improve infrastructure for the citizens of Dawson."

Corix will be working with an experienced team of contractors and subcontractors including:

Allnorth Consulting
Noram Engineering
Han Construction
Keith Plumbing and Heating
EBA Consulting
Streamline Architects
Construction Drilling
Ben's Electric
Dorward Engineering

Representatives from Corix Water Systems, the City of Dawson and the Yukon Government will meet to finalize the design of the plant and begin the environmental assessment. The treatment plant is scheduled to be completed in 2011.

The Corix Group of Companies - based in Vancouver, B.C. - specializes in providing products and utility solutions for sustainable infrastructure in the water, wastewater and energy sectors.
