LAKE ZURICH, IL, May 20, 2009 -- Pipe and Valve Technology Institute (PVT) has opened a new state of the art training center and is now offering two training modules. The two programs include courses in 1) Pipe Cutting and Weld Prep technologies and 2) Valve Operation Maintenance and Vacuum Excavation.
The Valve Operation Maintenance and Vacuum Excavation courses are designed to provide training in the municipal water systems industries, including field maintenance personnel. The primary focus is valve operation and exercising, with the objective of improving the operation, performance; life of the valve, and reducing maintenance costs. Other areas of concentration include: vacuum excavation and vault clean-out, to insure valves can be maintained and accessed; collection of vital field information on the operation and condition of the valves, including the ability to locate and store GPS coordinates using handheld data collection devices as well as other tools needed to perform the operation.
The Pipe Cutting and Weld Prep program is designed to provide training for personnel working in power plant maintenance, oil refineries, petrochemical, process piping, high purity, and government/military. Pipe fitters, Welders, Field Machinists and Managers will all benefit from these courses. Participants will learn to perform machine pipe preparation for all welding disciplines. Machining techniques will include form tool bevel operations and accurate single point machine preparation for automatic welding. Participants will also be exposed to measuring instruments, cutting tool geometries and accessories required to perform weld preparation of pipe and tube.
