KSB supplies new hospital facility
LOUGHBOROUGH, UK, June 21, 2007 -- KSB, the Loughborough based pump and valve manufacturer, has supplied equipment to one of Europe's largest Cancer treatment centers, St. James University Hospital in Leeds, which is currently under construction.
The new facility is a high profile project to create a center for excellence where laboratory based discoveries are translated into new treatments for patients.
KSB, working closely with Bovis' alliance partners Trouvay & Cauvin, has supplied a number of products including six 10" isolation valves to the project.
The valves were installed to handle the high volume of steam which will be delivered to provide heat to the new oncology unit.
Heating and hot water was required onsite by contractors from a very early stage in the building process and the KSB equipment enabled the safe redirection of steam mains from the hospital to the site of the new oncology section.
The products are vital to ensure the safety of workmen and engineers during scheduled maintenance work or in the event of other equipment downstream of the steam mains malfunctioning.
The building program is subject to a tight schedule and KSB was able to deliver the required equipment on time ensuring the project progressed as planned.
KSB has been established in the UK for more than 100 years and is one of the world's largest pump manufacturers. The company's products are used in a wide variety of applications including building services, water and sewage as well as in manufacturing processes.
