Texas wastewater plant spilled more than 100M gallons of water during Hurricane Harvey

HOUSTON, TEXAS, NOV 27, 2017 -- One Port Arthur, Texas, wastewater plant was responsible for the largest single wastewater spill during Hurricane Harvey.

The Houston Chronicle reports the plant was responsible for releasing more than 100 million gallons of wastewater during the storm. That's a sizeable spill, considering that state records show about 149 millions total gallons of raw sewage and industrial waste were spilled from more than 200 facilities in the same area.

The wastewater plant in question is operated by BASF Total Petrochemicals LLC. The company denies that the spill will cause any environmental impact.
