As BNR continues to evolve, processes that focus on low-carbon, low-energy, and reduced footprint will represent the next wave of infrastructure investment in nutrient management. Black & Veatch is working on three Water Research Foundation (WRF) projects in this area, focused on fermentative processes for phosphorus removal (WRF Project 4975), low-energy BNR configurations (WRF Project 5083), and BNR optimization (WRF Project 4973).
