Greyline Instruments has published a brochure on its new Hybrid PSL 5.0 model designed for lift stations, wet wells and storage tanks. The brochure describes the new level controller, which features a new Dual-Technology sensor capability for redundant level monitoring. The controller includes a non-contacting ultrasonic sensor and users also can connect a loop-powered pressure sensor for redundant sensing in applications with foam or grease.

The company also recently announced its new cross-reference tool, allowing its distributors to discover which All-Flo products can replace a customer's existing pumps from other manufactures.

Sight flow indicators

L.J. Star has published a handbook that provides technical guidance on the selection of sight flow indicators in process applications. The 14-page "Sight Flow Indicators Handbook" will aid process operators who use sight flow indicator devices in process pipelines to provide a visual means of verifying liquid flow. The handbook outlines the types of applications in which sight flow indicators may be applied as well as points to keep in mind when specifying a sight flow indicator, including direction of flow, characteristics of the process material, selection of the body material, gasket material, type of glass, window design and mounting type.

Training courses has added seven new courses for water and wastewater industry professionals focused on the use of UV disinfection systems and activated carbon. These free, non-commercial and informative video presentations are provided by Calgon Carbon Corp. and are each worth one hour of education contact time. Topics include addressing regulated and emerging disinfection by-product challenges in drinking water using activated carbon systems.

Drainline study

The Plumbing Efficiency Research Coalition (PERC) has released a study examining "The Drainline Transport of Solid Waste in Buildings." The study provides insights into the performance of building drains and addresses opportunities for future research. The study was designed to examine how building drains perform as flows from plumbing fixtures, appliances and commercial equipment are reduced and toilet fixtures become increasingly stressed to singularly transport solid waste to sewers.
