Located along the Spokane River in Washington State, the Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility is the wastewater treatment plant for the city of Spokane. Wastewater and stormwater are funneled through the facility, where the water is cleaned, filtered and treated using a SCADA system before exiting into the river.
For years, Riverside's Mike Goan had encountered problems with other water samplers. His staff had used various makes and models with the peristaltic pump system and frequently experienced missed or inaccurate samples.
As regulations and monitoring became more important and enforcement became a reality, the utility could not afford to have these types of issues.
Goan discovered Campbell Scientific's vacuum sampler. Riverside ordered and installed the company's stationary, indoor, composite sampler model CVS4200C, which they began using for sampling influent and effluent waters.
Since the installation, Riverside has not had a single missed or inaccurate volume sample. The facility now has 11 of the CVS4200C samplers on site.
Samplers from Campbell Scientific can be tied into any existing SCADA, PLC or RTU system to provide real-time data when samples are taken.
