Xylem appoints new senior vice president, president of Emerging Markets

Xylem announced that it has appointed Steven Leung as senior vice president and president of Emerging Markets for the company -- a newly created position -- effective Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

RYE BROOK, NY, March 26, 2015 -- Today, Xylem Inc. (NYSE:XYL), a global water technology company aiming to solve challenging water issues, announced that it has appointed Steven Leung as senior vice president (VP) and president of Emerging Markets for the company -- a newly created position -- effective Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

Leung, 58, will lead Xylem's commercial operations across emerging markets, including China, Greater Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, as well as Australia and New Zealand, and he will report directly to Xylem President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Decker. Leung will also serve as a member of the company's Senior Leadership Team and will be based in Shanghai, China.

"The emerging markets encompass some of the fastest-growing areas of our business, and Steve is well-positioned to help us maximize that growth," said Decker. "He joins Xylem with a strong operating and leadership background that includes more than two decades of global management and commercial experience. Steve also brings a deep knowledge and understanding of the emerging markets, which are a strategic priority in Xylem's growth plan."

Leung joins Xylem from Pentair, where he most recently served as VP of Global Sales for the company's Valves and Controls business. There, he led the integration of four global vertical sales teams into a single global function, and his role was expanded to include leadership of the global commercial services function.

Prior to serving at Pentair, he also held senior executive roles at Tyco International, including VP and general manager of Global Process Industry Vertical and president of its Flow Control business in Asia. Leung also held executive roles at Agilent Technologies and General Electric. He earned undergraduate degrees in management and electronic engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma City University.
