Through its subsidiary, Sino French Water, Suez has entered an agreement with Changshu Urban Construction to set up a joint venture to treat the effluents from the Changshu Advanced Materials Industrial Park (CAMIP).

This collaboration will cover the construction of an extension of the industrial park's effluent treatment station.

This second unit, which will come on stream early in 2017 and will have a capacity of 10,000 m3/day, will double the capacity of the existing plant in order to cope with the growth of the industrial park.

The station will treat effluents from the 55 industrial customers in the industrialcomplex and the 20,000 households in the growing Fushan residential zone.

The contract is expected to generate €354 million of revenue over the next 30 years.

Under the agreement, Changshu Sino French will also be responsible for the management and operation of both units for 30 years.

Sino French Water will hold a 24.5% stake in the newly created joint venture, Changshu Sino French, with Changshu Urban Construction holding 25.5% and the CAMIP holding 50%.

The CAMIP is located in the south-east of Jiangsu province, on the south bank of the Yangtze, 80 km from Shanghai.

It is an advanced fluorine chemistry park specialized in novel materials, fluorine chemistry, fine chemicals and biomed. It is home to several leading names, including DuPont, Daikin, Arkema and Kureha.

Marie-Ange Debon, senior executive vice president in charge of the international division of Suez, said: "Together with our partners, we hope to speed up the development of our activities while supporting the local authorities and industrial manufacturers to reach their environmental targets."
