MUNICH, Germany – Spanish engineering company Acciona Agua has become a qualified partner of Siemens for its industrial process automation equipment.

As part of the collaboration, the companies plan to automate two major treatment plants across Africa. This initially includes the Gabal El Asfar wastewater plant, which consists of a top-performing Simatic PCS7 process control system for industrial automation development.

Furthermore, the Oum Mazza drinking water plant in Morocco was developed from a virtual clone to minimise errors and optimise development to save commissioning time.

Finally, at the Ibarra wastewater plant in Ecuador, the Simatic PCS7 system allows 80 percent of the plant to be started up remotely.
