GREENSBORO, NC, June 17, 2009 -- Bord na Mona Environmental Products U.S. Inc. announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with American Manufacturing Company Inc. of Elkwood, Virginia, to package American's Perc-Rite® drip systems with its own Puraflo® Peat Fiber Biofilter onsite wastewater treatment systems in difficult soil condition environments. According to Bord na Mona Executive Vice President John Payne, the first such combination system under this partnership has already been successfully installed at a residence in Charleston, South Carolina.

"Our partnership with American Manufacturing promises to bring a new level of onsite treatment quality and flexibility to areas known for having difficult soil conditions such as shallow bedrock, clay, and high water tables, or where the customer wants to reclaim the treated water for irrigation," Payne said today. "What's more, these combination systems will feature a single control panel that significantly simplifies long-term operation and maintenance."

American Manufacturing's Perc-Rite® Drip system is a single- or multi-zoned fluid handling system for drip dispersal utilizing disc filtration followed by low volume timed dosing. The drip dispersal system delivers the treated wastewater equally to a dispersal area providing unsaturated flow for an aerobic soil environment resulting in enhanced performance. The company offers systems that feature anywhere from one to multiple zones all managed by a single control panel.

Bord na Mona's Puraflo® system, which is certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 40, is a low energy natural wastewater treatment solution for on-site wastewater treatment requirements. Utilizing a unique, natural biofibrous peat filter media, the Puraflo® treatment system is the highest performing, most reliable natural treatment system available today.

Delivered in a pre-assembled modular unit that saves on installation time which reduces costs, the Puraflo® solution is compatible with drip dispersal systems, making it an ideal treatment solution for difficult soil conditions, lot size restrictive applications and also for water reuse irrigation. It is a single pass system that does not require blowers, complex control panels or recirculation pumps. As a result, this low power time-dosed solution provides savings for homeowners while meeting LEED and other Green Build standards.

The most common Puralfo® system applications include individual residential sites, community cluster systems, light commercial, schools, and subdivision developments. The system is particularly suited for intermittent flow applications such as vacation homes, churches, parks, and truck stops as it retains the beneficial bacteria in the media. In addition the modular design allows phasing of the construction and is also a very cost competitive solution. The Puraflo® treatment system is also an excellent solution for repairs.

According to Payne, Bord na Mona's partnership with American Manufacturing is open ended and will in the future include collaboration on other treatment and reuse solutions for both the residential and commercial market segments. American Manufacturing has agreed to feature a selection of its products and solutions at the newly opened Bord na Mona Innovation Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. "There is a lot of room for future cooperation between our two companies, " Payne explained. "This is a collaboration that will be certain to produce a number of innovations that will advance the state of the art in environmentally responsible wastewater treatment and reuse solutions."

With regard to the recent partnered system installation in Charleston, South Carolina, the owner of that newly constructed residence, Patricia Housand, recently said, "Everything went so smoothly once the team from Bord na Mona and American Manufacturing explained everything to us. In particular, we appreciated the assistance provided by Chris Keiger from Bord na Mona and Jesse Cordy from American Manufacturing. They kept the project moving forward and completed on schedule."

Headquartered in Dublin Ireland, Bord na Móna is a multi-national $550-million full line provider of products and services in the environmental, energy, fuels, and horticulture markets.
