PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 10, 2010 -- BlackGold Biofuels today announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the GoingGreen East Top 50 winners, signifying it is one of the top 50 private cleantech companies on the East Coast. The Philadelphia company sells technology and equipment to convert sewer grease into biodiesel, a low carbon diesel fuel. It sold and delivered its first system last year to the City of San Francisco.

Inclusion in the GoingGreen East 50 signifies leadership amongst cleantech peers and game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. BlackGold was named a winner in the water treatment and technologies category, specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

"The GoingGreen East Top 50 winners have excelled in key strategic areas in the global clean energy technology markets," said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. "We congratulate them for their success in introducing new tools, services, and systems that are driving the next phase of greentech innovation and transforming the biggest industries on earth."

The GoingGreen East 50 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2010 list. "We are pleased to be recognized for our groundbreaking work, profitably addressing the leading cause of sewer overflows for water utilities while producing biodiesel for significantly less than conventional models," noted BlackGold CEO Emily Landsburg. "BlackGold is transforming the wastewater sector from disposal treatment to profitable resource recovery while creating sustainable sources of renewable energy for cities across the nation."

BlackGold and the GoingGreen East Top 50 companies will be honored at AlwaysOn's GoingGreen East event on March 8th, 2010, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, MA. This two-and-a-half-day executive event features CEO presentations and high-level debates on the most promising emerging green technologies and new entrepreneurial opportunities

About BlackGold
BlackGold Biofuels' groundbreaking technology converts sewer greases and other waste oils into biodiesel, a low-carbon diesel fuel. Grease from the sewer system is a financially and environmentally costly burden for utilities and taxpayers alike. With the ability to produce high-value biodiesel for internal use or for sale, BlackGold transforms this nuisance pollutant into a revenue stream. BlackGold developed its technology over 4 years at its Philadelphia R&D facility and has a formal collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture. The City of San Francisco is currently commissioning a BlackGold system at its municipal wastewater treatment plant.
